The size of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) has increased as well.
The per capita income rose to $1,610 in the FY 2016-17 from $1,465 in the FY 2015-16, according to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
In a provisional calculation in May this year, the BBS expected that the per capita income would stand at $1,602 by the end of the FY 2016-17. But in the final calculation, it stood at $1,610, $8 more from the provisional estimate.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed it while briefing journalists in the National Economic Council conference room after a meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council on Tuesday.
He said the per capita income had increased as the country’s economic growth also witnessed a rise in the FY 2016-17. The size of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) has increased as well, he added.
